"T-Werk", the international theatre centre based in Potsdam, was founded in 1997 when several independent theatre companies decided to work together at the Cultural Centre in Schiffbauergasse in Potsdam.
Since 2004 T-Werk has had a stage of its own at Schiffbauergasse. The focus is on modern and innovative theatre, both in form and content, and on mesh forms between visual theatre, performing arts and narrative theatre. T-Werk is also largely active in educational projects for and by young people.
Beside its own productions T-Werk acts as a host for other independent groups and offers them a venue for rehearsals and shows. In addition, T-Werk organizes numerous national and international festivals to stimulate the intercultural dialogue between artists and cultures. The theatre, in turn, was invited to several festivals in Poland, Finland, Italy, Russia, France, former Yugoslavia and Belgium.
Famous fixtures in the programme are the festivals "UNIDRAM" - an international theatre festival, "World Dream” - an international children`s culture festival, “Long night of fairy tale” and “Long night of independent theatre”, which are held once a year.
T-Werk at Schiffbauergasse is an important address for independent theatre work in Potsdam.
