UKW Band (Hamburg, Germany)
Concert

Balkan rhythms, Latin and African grooves as well as jazz impros, tango, waltz, Arab music and tarantella are elements of this nomadic music. Basque carnival songs blended with Swedish lullabies, the band doesn’t shy away from "La Paloma" or "La Cumparsita" from Billy Wilder's movie "Some like it hot" and also presents its interpretations of Bertolt Brecht and Wilhelm Busch. Music with a Mediterranean charm, absolutely danceable!

Ulrich Kodjo Wendt, the man who lent his name to the band, has composed a lot of film scores, amongst others for Fatih Akin's roadmovie ”In July”. The title “Hochzeit“ written for the comedy “Kebab Connection” is also part of their repertoire.
