Oleg Zhukovskiy, well known from Axe and Derevo, a frequent guest at UNIDRAM and founder of the company Theatre La Pushkin, is collaborating for the first time with the director of Compagnie Metanoia, Zoltán Perovics. Their staged hommage to the Russian Absurdist writer Daniil Kharms is the fulfillment of a longstandig wish on both parts to stage a common production.
Performance
This Kharms evening is like scratched celluloid, like the rattling and flickering of an ancient cinematographer : a wobbly and unpredictable theatrical evening at the flicks. Far from being film heroes, the two men in hats are more like happy-go-lucky anarcho-clowns who, perpetually overtaxed, stage the kind of silent pictures that just didn’t move along quickly enough when they were supposed to be learning to walk.
