La Pendue
FranceTria Fata is the story of an old woman whose life is drawing to a close at precisely the moment the play begins. To delay the moment of her final departure for as long as possible, a musician and a puppeteer replay her life in kaleidoscope. With an exuberant dialogue of music and animation and constantly changing instruments, a life is conjured up that may never have existed. Figures of archaic beauty come up with ever more ludicrous roles and their antics become increasingly bizarre as they laugh death in the face.
The French puppet theatre company La Pendue was founded in 2003 by Estelle Charlier and Romuald Collinet, two graduates of the Institut International de la Marionnette, Charleville-Mézières. La Pendue’s works upholds puppet theatre as a universal human symbol and are inspired both by traditional hand puppetry – especially by the 400-year-old figure of Pulcinella – as well as by contemporary puppet-theatre techniques.
