Contemporary circus, 60 minutes, nonverbal
– GERMAN PREMIERE -

The trapeze swings, rebounds, oscillates and gyrates. Eliška Brtnická has deconstructed it, to reveal a rigging consisting of long, thin iron bars – a kind of graphic model or a suspended landscape of lines. Body and material – two elements in one space whose existence are mutually dependent and which, for all the flexibility, fragility, and instability of their form, seem to defy the laws of gravity. Thin Skin is a visual-kinetic performance and meditative work of movement that combines elements of contemporary circus with physical theatre and seems to bend time in the process.

Eliška Brtnická – Performer, choreographer, dramaturg and director – she studied nonverbal theatre at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague before completing her doctorate on contemporary circus in 2018. She has been engaged in artistic research in this field for many years and in 2010 founded the circus troupe Cirkus Mlejn, which already has numerous projects under its belt. For the production Thin Skin, in which Brtnická focused on the trapeze as a kinetic sculpture, she invited the acrobat and performer Alžběta Tichá and the performer and juggler Filip Zahradnický to join; both perform internationally with renowned circus companies and as solo artists.
