Walk-in installation based on Max Frisch’s "Man appears in the Holocene", 50 minutes, in German. Unfortunately not fully accessible for people with disabilities. Standing room tickets only.
A rain room, a lemon room, pagodas made of crisp bread and Plexiglas curtains in which objects are cast. In a circuit, the audience explores six stations equipped with headphones that address the convulsions of geopolitics and the climate threats of our time in a multitude of ways. The desire for maximum stability and efficiency is juxtaposed with the vulnerability of an individual who has begun to teeter. Inspired by Max Frisch’s Man appears in the Holocene, this immersive composition of video, sculpture, object, sound and narration combines to communicate a spatial experience of fragility.
RUE OBSCURE hails from Münster, Germany; a theatre and performance collective whose work straddles the genres of the visual and the performing arts. In addition to their interest in site-specific works, the team is increasingly developing immersive settings that allow the audience to interactively immerse themselves in the reality of the performance. The collective is directed by Anne Keller, Karina Behrendt and Katharina Kolar. Often inspired by surreal and magical-realist texts, RUE OBSCURE’s installation Secured Territory refers to the human obsession with taming nature.
