Spectacle beyond gravity, 65 minutes
‘LEO’ is the extraordinary journey of an ordinary man whose world has been thrown off balance. As if his body were the centre of gravity of the universe, he hovers on the wall, performs absurd pirouettes and throws a hat into the air, only for it to fly back to him like a boomerang. This LEO, who possesses the naive charm and vulnerable optimism of silent-film actors such as Buster Keaton, challenges every perception of reality. Through the clever interplay of live performance and video projection, the audience soon loses all sense of which way is up and which is down, as the laws of gravity appear to have changed. Tobias Wegner has received numerous prestigious awards worldwide for this astonishingly surreal show.
Tobias Wegner completed his training as an acrobat at the renowned École Supérieure des Arts du Cirque (É.S.A.C.) in Brussels. His professional career has taken him to Brazil, Spain and India, amongst other countries. The artistic direction of the performance ‘LEO’ has been taken on by the experimental Franco-Canadian actor, dramaturg and director Daniel Brière.
