Inspired by Edgar Allan Poe’s The Duc de L’Omelette, IMPOSTOR is an eerily unsettling glimpse into our deepest selves; an encounter with demons and, at the same time, a fairytale that defies a dichotomous perception of good and evil. In the almost symbiotic relationship between the dancer and a multifaceted, Medusa-like creature, the boundaries between the ‘self’ and the ‘other’ become blurred. Not only do infinite opportunities for manipulation arise, but also the question of who controls whom, who assumes the dominant role and who is willing to simply play along.
Thomas Noone Dance is a Barcelona-based dance company that explores the intersection between dance and other art forms, in particular puppetry and object manipulation. The ensemble combines expressive dance with visual storytelling. As a dancer, choreographer and director, Thomas Noone has been involved in the contemporary dance scene for more than 20 years, creating more than 50 works in collaboration with numerous musicians, dancers and visual artists. In the production IMPOSTOR, Thomas Noone is accompanied by a modular puppet made by the Brazilian sculptor André Mello.
